Surgik's Polyester suture is a non-absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of polyethylene terepthalate. Polyester suture is a multifilament, flexible thread prepared from fibers of high molecular weight, long-chain, linear polyesters having recurrent aromatic rings as an integral component and is indicated for use in soft tissue approximation. Surgik's polyester suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues. High quality materials, combined with precise braiding structure, almost eliminate suture fragments in the tissue. Unlike some absorbable sutures, Surgik's Polyester is not subject to degradation or known to lose tensile strength. Polyester suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures. Polyester suture meets U.S.P. requirements as described in the U.S.P. Monograph for Nonabsorbable Surgical Sutures.
